Ann Althouse (A center-right law prof who is pro-choice) has a post about the Kermit Gosnell trial that makes an excellent point. Had the media covered the trial like they should have, and said, “This is a terrible abuse of a woman’s right to abortion. We must make sure this never happens again,” then they could have controlled the narrative, and made it about a racist charlatan murderer, while keeping the broader implications to a minimum.
But, by not covering it, they are admitting that there is something about abortion which offends sensibilities, even if it were possible to keep abortion “safe, legal and rare.” We now know that even supporters of abortion in the mainstream media recognize that there is no moral difference between killing a baby in eutero, and killing him after he is on the delivery table.
Which is, I suppose, even more disturbing.
