For the LCMS 2013 convention, there are a number of topics with multiple resolutions. This indicates a strong feeling in the synod that something should be done (although various resolutions often recommend opposite action).
However, I will be highlighting three resolutions that are unique: Only one overture was submitted on each of these topics. This means that there has not necessarily been significant thought or discussion in our synod about them, but it does not mean that they are unimportant. They will likely be ignored, unless something happens to change their fate. Between now and May 17, comments are received by the Secretary of Synod. These comments are then handed over to the appropriate floor committee. If enough pastors and laity must write to the Secretary of Synod (feel free to copy the President’s office) explaining why they believe that these resolutions are important, the floor committee may take a second look and reconsider its importance.
