Last week, I sent my final draft manuscript off to the publisher. The title so far is “Teach These Things: Catechesis for the Lutheran Parish.” For those who are annually dismayed at the scant attention given to Luther’s genius in instruction and catechesis, this work will be a welcome addition to your teaching arsenal.
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER: Outlines of Luther’s Large Catechism, arranged to aid in instruction.
Today’s catechesis materials generally follow Melanchthon’s outlines. These materials go back to Luther’s brilliant outlines for catechesis. Additional materials are included to help discuss some of today’s most pressing issues. (It turns out, Luther didn’t spend much time discussing evolution, abortion, cohabitation, etc.) Price TBD, but early discussions are suggesting it will be very reasonably priced. Student materials are simply the Small Catechism and Bible, so costs to students are also very low. Perfect for the small, budget conscious parish that wants more Luther in its Lutheran Instruction. More information will be released as it becomes available. Stay tuned, or subscribe to Emmanuel Press updates over at their WEBSITE.
